  1. AirBnB
I was contacted via Flickr mail by AirBnB, and thought why not give it a go, so I did. The pay is poor, the expenses almost non existent(they pay only up to $10). My first assignment duly came, and was for a property 3 miles from my home, took the photos, and all seemed well. I had the foresight to take the property owners email address, and although not want AirBnB wanted me to do, I sent LO-RES pics to the owner , they replied that the pictures they thought were fantastic, so far so good, I then posted the pics to AirBnB, and here upon the trouble started. All the images were rejected for being to dark, I thought this rather odd as my monitor is calibrated, but I brightened the images and sent off again, again rejected for being too dark, so I thought enough is enough, and reposted the images without touching them in any way(I had already spent far too long trying to get them approved , and time is money), lo and behold they were accepted, and payment came, and all seemed ok. Having learnt from my first assignment ,when another came along about 2 months later, I made sure I had enough over exposed shots, and correctly exposed shots to keep them happy. When these images were posted, all were again rejected, one of the comments as to why they were rejected, was the walls were not white, like AirBnB would like, being that the walls were painted in a cream colour did not seem to cross their mind, another reason for rejection was that I had taken a picture of the bathroom from the doorway looking in , and they wanted the camera to be placed inside the bathroom, the walls of which were one big mirror, thought I’d done quite well keeping out of shot as it was, many times I adjusted the pics of this property, but each time they were rejected, I decided that I would reshoot when the owner was available. The next assignment came a month later, and was in as property in the back of beyond, it consisted of two lets, so pay was times two too, duly went along and took the pics, the weather was foul torrential rain, even though the property owner and myself ,had consulted the weather forecast bah!!!. I again took many over exposed shots at all exposure lengths , and a lot of correct exposures, again all were rejected, to dark, walls not white, you name it they rejected for any reason that came in their heads, after slightly losing my cool , and suggesting that they did not want a photographer, but a painter/decorator. I tryed several times to get the images of this property accepted, but to no avail, after submitting for the umpteenth time, and having them rejected, they told me my services were no longer required. I have been paid for one assignment, yet they have pictures that I had taken of 5 lets, does not take rocket science to work out how much they have scammed me for. In my opinion do not touch AirBnB with a barge pole, reject the email for being to dark.
